Basics

halftone portrait of the webmaster

I'm a digital and traditional artist based in the UK, branching out to writing and photgraphy eventually. Jack of all trades, master of none. Creating this site is a way of expressing myself, as I'm actually rather shy in person (but have improved my social skills considerably in the last decade. One would hope.) it's nerve-racking even typing this, believing I come across as arrogant. After viewing many "About Me" sections, I bit the bullet and made my own.

Likes: Ambient music, art, ASMR, buildings, blogging, chatting with friends, fashion, flowers, fragrance, jazz, matcha, snails, sweet food, tea, Tetris, travelling, typography, and writing.

No doubt I'll be updating the pages to include these soon enough.

Art

Background:

I specialise in realism, though that wasn't always the case. In school, my art centred around cartoons and manga, with my final project blending the two together during the rise of Vaporwave. Pencil works of Greek and Roman statues depicted with exaggerated eyes or full-body statues having their heads replaced with popular characters from anime. Regretting that now. I was under the impression back then that teaching students still life was a method of torture. Little did I know, form, composition and anatomy would be the skeletal structure ALL of my later work. Karma. However, I learned more about art fundamentals outside of education.

Studying Art and Design in college, I fell in love with portraiture, but didn't want experimentation to affect my grade. After college, I stumbled upon an art site during lockdown called Malmal, an online infinite canvas with one brush setting. The simplicity wasn't a set back, rather a challenge to push myself. A perfect playground to practice realism.

Mediums:

Digital: Wacom Intuos 2015 tablet, MS Paint, Malmal, Krita. ProCreate and iPad (6th gen I think?).

Traditional: Acrylic, gouache, pencil.

Art section of this website will be updated... eventually.

Who are you?

The spacefem.com html color quiz defines my personality as the following: Your dominant hues are cyan and blue. You like people and enjoy making friends. You're conservative and like to make sure things make sense before you step into them, especially in relationships. You are curious but respected for your opinions by people who you sometimes wouldn't even suspect.
Your saturation level is medium - You're not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it's required of you. You probably don't think the world can change for you and don't want to spend too much effort trying to force it.
Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.
